Stant 27101 Thermostat Gasket for Kaiser Darrin (1954)

Kaiser-Frazer was the postwar newcomer started by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser in 1945. It built cars until 1955, and surviving Kaisers are prized because so few were made. On the Kaiser side, the catalogs list the Stant 27101 for 10 models from 1947 to 1955.

This page is for one model only: the Kaiser Darrin. It isn't a wall of every car ever made, just yours.

Help choosing the right gasket

The 27101 is a universal 14-hole thermostat gasket from Stant, the kind a mechanic reaches for when the original cut gasket for an older or less common housing is hard to find. The catalogs list its hole diameter at 1.63 inches. Lay your thermostat housing on it, check that the opening and bolt holes line up with your engine's outlet, and trim to fit if needed. Stant cut a different gasket for each housing design, and Don stocks several of them, so check which number your car calls for.

Before you order, match three things: your year, your model, and your engine. Catalogs list fitment by vehicle, but some engines had more than one thermostat housing design over the years. If your old gasket is still in hand, compare its shape and bolt holes, or just ask Don and Kathy. They'll help you sort it out.

Real people behind the parts

Don was born in 1936 and grew up on a Saskatchewan farm, four miles from a town of about 150 people. As a young man he drove trucks through deep snow in Canada's Northwest Territories, hauling dynamite to seismic crews. Kathy grew up in South Dakota, blizzards and all. Together they've spent close to three decades helping people keep old cars on the road.

These gaskets come from Don's own shelves, in original Stant packaging.

Price is $9.95 plus shipping.

Don and Kathy offer a fair deal for this. Buying for a club, a shop, or a whole fleet of project cars? Even better.
