Stant 27161 Thermostat Gasket for Ford Pinto (1971–1974)

Ford built cars, pickups, and vans for every kind of driver, and many Ford engine families stayed in production for years, which is why one small gasket can show up across a long list of models.

This page is for one model only: the Ford Pinto. It isn't a wall of every car ever made, just yours.

Help choosing the right gasket

The 27161 is a Stant Stat Lok thermostat gasket. It replaces the older Stant number 25161. The catalogs list its hole diameter at 1.94 inches, which is a handy check against the old gasket in your hand. "Stat Lok" means it has an adhesive backing that holds the thermostat centered in its seat while you bolt the housing down, so there's no gasket cement, no thermostat falling out, and less risk of cracking the outlet flange. Stant cut a different gasket for each housing design, and Don stocks several of them, so check which number your car calls for.

Before you order, match three things: your year, your model, and your engine. Catalogs list fitment by vehicle, but some engines had more than one thermostat housing design over the years. If your old gasket is still in hand, compare its shape and bolt holes, or just ask Don and Kathy. They'll help you sort it out.

Real people behind the parts

Don and Kathy Leask have been selling obsolete and restoration auto parts online since 1997. Their eBay store, carparts2, was the second auto parts store on eBay. Over the years it grew into one of the biggest online sources of obsolete parts, with something like 11,000 to 17,000 unique parts listed.

These gaskets come from Don's own shelves, in original Stant packaging.

Price is $9.95 plus shipping.

Don and Kathy offer a fair deal for this. Buying for a club, a shop, or a whole fleet of project cars? Even better.
