Stant 27167 Thermostat Gasket for Pontiac (1976–1998): Acadian, Firefly, T1000 and more

Don's very first car was a 1936 Pontiac convertible, bought by his father for about $600 when Don was in high school in Saskatchewan. So Pontiac has a special place in this shop. This gasket doesn't reach back to 1936, but the 27167 fits later Pontiacs, including the Acadian and Firefly. Pontiac sold those two mainly in Canada, so they're a little bit of home for a Saskatchewan farm boy.

This page lists only the Pontiac models the Stant 27167 is catalogued to fit. It isn't a wall of every car ever made, just yours.

Help choosing the right gasket

The 27167 is a Stant Stat Lok thermostat gasket, made in the USA. It replaces the older Stant number 25167. "Stat Lok" means it has an adhesive backing that holds the thermostat centered in its seat while you bolt the housing down, so there's no gasket cement, no thermostat falling out, and less risk of cracking the outlet flange. Its sister part, the 27140, fits mostly earlier V8s and trucks, so check which number your car calls for.

Before you order, match three things: your year, your model, and your engine. Catalogs list fitment by vehicle, but some engines had more than one thermostat housing design over the years. If your old gasket is still in hand, compare its shape and bolt holes, or just ask Don and Kathy. They'll help you sort it out.

Real people behind the parts

Don was born in 1936 and grew up on a Saskatchewan farm, four miles from a town of about 150 people. As a young man he drove trucks through deep snow in Canada's Northwest Territories, hauling dynamite to seismic crews. Kathy grew up in South Dakota, blizzards and all. Together they've spent close to three decades helping people keep old cars on the road.

These gaskets come from Don's own shelves, in original Stant bags marked Made in USA.

No list price. Let's make a deal.

Don and Kathy don't do fixed prices on these. It works like a good swap meet: tell them what you need and how many, and they'll work out a fair deal with you one on one. Buying for a club, a shop, or a whole fleet of project cars? Even better.
