"Stat Lok" means it has an adhesive backing that holds the thermostat centered in its seat while you bolt the housing down, so there's no gasket cement, no thermostat falling out, and less risk of cracking the outlet flange. Its sister parts, the 27140 and 27167, fit different engine families — the 27150 is the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury gasket — so check which number your car calls for.
