"Stat Lok" means it has an adhesive backing that holds the thermostat centered in its seat while you bolt the housing down, so there's no gasket cement, no thermostat falling out, and less risk of cracking the outlet flange. Its sister part, the 27167, fits a different set of mostly later, smaller engines, so check which number your car calls for.

Don was born in 1936 and grew up on a Saskatchewan farm, four miles from a town of about 150 people.
