"Stat Lok" means it has an adhesive backing that holds the thermostat centered in its seat while you bolt the housing down, so there's no gasket cement, no thermostat falling out, and less risk of cracking the outlet flange. Its sister part, the 27140, fits mostly earlier V8s and trucks, so check which number your car calls for.
